PRODUCER AND SELLER.

GRATIFYING CO-OPERATION. FOUNDATION OF SUCCESSFUL .TRADING. By MR FRANK CAMPBELL (President of NeW Zealand Manufacturers' Federation). It is with pleasure that I accede to your request to send a message on behalf of New Zealand Manufacturers fop insertion in your special industrial supplement which yon are publishing in conjunction with the annual “ Made in New Zealand Week ” organised by the Dunedin Manufacturers’ Association. It is exceedingly gratifying to Jeam that this year’s undertaking will eclipse those of previous years, not only by an increase in the number of windows exhibiting New Zealand-made goods but also by the enthusiasm and co-operation that has been shown by both retailers and mann.facturers to make the event the great success it promises to be. Such co-operation between producer and seller is always necessary and helps to lay the foundation stone of successful trading, the development and progress of our manufacturing industries being essential for the well being of the Dominion. I hope the public generally will realise their responsibility in assisting to create a national spirit for everything New Zealand by supporting the goods made in their country and insisting on obtaining them when purchasing. Their concentrated actions in this regard would in no small measure help to alleviate the problem of unemployment. It is the individual who can make our industries prosper and our factories employ more and more labour. Everyone should remember when making purchases to see that the article is made in New Zealand and demand the local made—it is a personal obligation to do so. Ido hope the Dunedin people will do their part. I desire heartily to congratulate all those who have assisted in this splendid movement and wish the forthcoming “Made in New Zealand Week ” every success.
