(Received April 1, at 9 p.m.) In the first round of the South Eastern Open Golf Championship, of 36 holes,_at Augusta, Georgia, Jones was first With 144, while Farrell tied with Kerrigan for second place with 147, Horton Smith being nest with 148 - Jones experienced considerable difficulty in holding the lead at times, but he refused to give up, while the others dropped back. Smith improved after a poor start. He was paired with Jones.
