MOTOR CYCLIST KILLED.
MACHINE CRASHES IN RACE. RIDER KILLED ALMOST INSTANTLY. (Peh United Press Association.! carterton' March i. The motor cycle races at Taratahi today were marred by the death of a young rider, Robert Leo Wilkinson, of Okaiawa, Hawera, aged 22i. His mother resides at Hamilton. In the seventh race, for B grade riders, Wilkinson was going well till the fourth lap. When rounding a corner out of the straight his machine developed a wobble and he crashed. It is alleged that lie was struck on the head by the footrest of a passing rider and killed almost instantly Dr Tweed, who was a judge at the meeting, was speedily in attendance, 'but the injured man expired as the doctor reached him. The body %vas removed to the morgue at Carterton, where an inquest will be held. The races were abandoned.
