BOWSERS ON TAIERI COUNTY ROADS.
ANNUAL CHARGE TO BE MADE. At the meeting of the Taieri County Council yesterday Cr Stevenson moved the (foilowing, which had been handed in as a notice of motion;— 1. That the resolution passed at last meeting of the council givin ,r permission to Mr Miller to erect & bowser on Bath street, Brighton, he rescinded 2. That all applicants for permission to erect _a bowser on streets or roads in Taieri County be granted subject to a charge for same of £5 per year. Cr Stevenson said this was not a fit and proper place to have a bowser It was too close to the telephone box! ihere was not sufficient visibility— not as much as the regulations demanded. Ihere was a school in close proximitv and the gate to the Domain. Cr M'lntpsh mentioned that he had supported the application; but since he had heard Cr Stevenson's remarks and the objections of local people, he would second the motion. In answer to the chairman, Cr Stevenson said there was a position for the bowser on the applicant’s property. The motion to rescind was carried. Regarding the second part of the motion, it was decided that a fee of £5 per annum be charged for all bowsers on county roads as from June 1, 1930. ■ * , Stevenso n moved that the Minister be thanked and his suggestion forwarded. This was seconded by Cr Kemnshell and carried. 1
