THE FRENCH CRISIS
FORMATION OF MINISTRY. M. TARDIEU TO THY AGAIN. (United Press Association.) - (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) PARIS, February 2G. M. Poincare refused to form a Ministry on account of health reasons. M. Tardieu has consented to try. SUPPORT FROM M. POINCARE. PARIS, February 27. (Received Feb. 27, at 10 p.m.) Public opinion is strongly in favour of M. Tardieu, but he only accept, d the task of forming a Ministry after M. Poincare offered to help him to form a strong Ministry. M. Tardieu is making supreme efforts to induce the Radical Socialists to accept four or five seats in the Cabinet, and if he succeeds he will be able to rule the Chamber indefinitely. If he has to fall back solely on his fSrmer supporters from the Right and Centre Parties he will only have the narrowest majority. _ Undoubtedly the country desires a combination of the Centre Parties as a guarantee against a further" crisis. The rapid succession of crises has had a sobering effect in politics, and it is realised that temporary stability is necessary for France’s prestige abroad.
