Mr K. M, Milligan, managing director of the firm of Messrs Farqunarsoh Bros, who has been in Dunedin on a business trip, left for Wellington last evening. Mr J, H. Wiliknson was a passenger by the second express yesterday en route to Auckland, where, in addition to spending a holiday, he will attend the conference of Congregational Churches. Lord and Lady Latymer, of the Bur-dett-Coutts family, of Shipton Lodge, England, arrived at Wellington from Sydney by the Tahiti on Monday to spend a few weeks trout fishing and deer stalking in this country. Captain and Mrs Griffyth Fairfax, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs R. S. Black, left on Tuesday for the Lakes (listnet They will return to Dunedin on Saturday, and will comence the return trip to England next week. Park, of New Zealand Airways, Ltd., returned yesterday from a tour of Central Otago, during which he inspected landing grounds. 'There was a large gathering in the Warrington Presbyterian Church on Tuesday night to bid farewell to Mrs M'Gill, who for the past 10 years has filled the important position "bf matron at the James Powell Convalescent Home. The. Rev. H. J. Fletcher, Presbyterian minister of Seacliff and Warrington, presided, and an enjoyable musical programme was presented. The main object of the gathering was to make a presentation and say good-bye to the departing guest. The-meeting was addressed by Mr J. B. Waters and ‘Mr Gumming, each of whom referred to the matron's successful work during the past 10 years. The chairman handed Mrs M‘Gill a cheque from the residents as a parting gift. Mrs M‘Gill will leave the home to-morrow morning on a well-earneu holiday, and Mr and Mrs Martin will take up their duties as master and matron at the institution, which is doing a notable work amongst the sick and needy.
