RUGBY FOOTBALL.
THE 1930 BRITISH TOUR. (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONDON, January 16, 1930. There are rumours going about that certain prominent Rugby players *have already been chosen for the British Rugby team which will visit New Zealand this year. Any statement that such-and-such a player is to be in the team is premature. - Commander Cooper (Secretary of the Rugby Union) tells me that nothing definite with .regard to the personnel of the team will be known until the third week in February. The procedure adopted has been to send a tentative invitation to a number of players asking each whether he is able to make the tour, if chosen. A large number of those thus invited have replied in the affirmative. At a meeting of the Selection Committee (consisting of Mr J. Baxter, Mr A. D. Stoop, Mr J. Danicll, Mr E.' Gu-yn Nicholls, and Mr G. V. Stephenson) in tlie third week of February, the claims of those who have expressed their ability to go will be considered, and the team will be selected. Not till after that meeting will it be possible to say with any certainty that any particular player will be a member of the team.
