SHELL COMPANY’S PICNIC.

The fourth annual picnic of the Dunthe « Company of New Zealand, Ltd.,' was held at Long Beach on Saturday. Durmg the earlier part of the day the greater majonty of the younger members or -the party indulged in swimming, many being tempted to participate on account ot the exceptionally safe nature of the beach. At the close of the sports events toys were distributed to nil the children present, after which several members of the party visited the caves in the vicinity of the picnic grounds. A successful day was brought to a close with the distribution of the prizes to the successful sports competitors by the branch manager (Mr F. Halligan). The return journey was made along the same delightful road as had been followed in the early morning, the excursionists having during almost the whole of the journey a delightful panoramic view of the Otago Harbour and the surrounding hills.
