The recommendations of a sub-commit-tee set up last August were as follows: “That the society should, set aside the sum of 200 guineas each year for the purpose of a prize or prizes (as may be decided upon) to be awarded together with a gold medal to be called t* The Research Gold Medal,” for the best thesis on a subject to be selected by the counciL The following industries and undertakings, in the committee’s opinion, offer abundant scope for the subject of such theses Dairying, coalmining, sawmilling, municipal accounting, frozen meat industry, pig raising, and the pork industry, Other suitable subjects could ha added from time to time.
