FLOWER SHOW.
COULLS. SOMERVILLE, .WILKIE, LTD. The employees of Coulls, Somerville, Wilkie, Ltd., brought forward a splendid display of flowers and vegetables in the firm's showroom yesterday for their annual exhibition. The various classes were mainly confined to employees, but in a number of instances employees’ wives were permitted to enter. The friendly rivalry of the occasion produced keen competition, notably in the needlework and cookery classes. The judges were as follow:-—Elowers and vegetables, Mr D Tannock; cookery. Miss Kay; decorative work. Miss Reid; needlework, Mrs Simpson. In the flowers and vegetable sections Mr Tannock considered ' that notwithstanding the unfavourable season the entries were up to a very high standard, ihe needlework classes, introduced for the first time, elicited a host o f entries and the comment of the judge was that the exhibits were all beautifully workedreflecting much credit on the care and patience of the girls.. The challenge rose bowl and trofrhy presented by the directors for the competitor scoring most points was won by Mr J. Breese. A large number of vases were lent for the show by florists in the city, to whom the committee of management is indebted, The following is the prize list: - Pot plants.-—J. Dickie 1, T. S.
