ANNUAL MEETING. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. ' (Per United Press Association.) HERMITAGE. June 24. The annual conference of the Newspaper. Proprietors’ Association of New Zealand (inc.), which was opened in Timaru on Thursday night, was concluded at the Hermitage, Mount- Cook, over the week-end. There were present Messrs C. W. The conference reaffirmed its opinion that the law should be amended to permit of the publication of dividends on racing and trotting events. Hearty votes of thanks were passed to Mr G. C. Codlin for his services on the Labour Committee, and to Mr John Coombe for his services on the Advertising Committee. Mr C. W. Earle, C.M.G., was unanimously re-elected president. Members of all sections of the association expressed their keen of the valuable services of Mr Earle during the past year, and their gratification at his acceptance of the office for another term. The president referred to Sir Charles Fergusson’s message received on the eve of his departure from New Zealand conveying his appreciation of the assistance he had received from the press of the Dominion during his term as GovernorGeneral. It was decided to acknowledge the message and to place on record the association’s pleasux-e at Sir Charles's thoughtful action. During the conference Mr H. H. Sterling, general manager of the New Zealand Railways, addressed the delegates on railway matters. It was decided to hold the next annual meeting of the association at Rotorua.
