WHEAT IN AUSTRALIA
SUGGESTED GUARANTEE. EFFECT ON PRODUCTION. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, February 24. (Received Feb. 24, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr Nock, the president of the New South Wales Farmer Settlers’ Association, says that though the suggested guarantee of 4s a bushel for wheat was a step in the right direction, it was insufficient to effect any increase in production. If the guarantee was 5s farmers would respond to the extent of 1,000,000 acres, and the additional cultivation would absorb many of the unemployed in the country.
