PRIME MINISTER’S SPEECH. AN INTERESTING INCIDENT. t ■ (Peb United Pbess Association.) WELLINGTON, 18 A very interesting incident took place at Heretaunga this morning, when the first movietone record to be taken in New Zealand was secured, the occasion being the recording of a message to the world Wardf Pnme Mlmster < Sir Joseph Sir Joseph, who was in excellent spirits, delivered a warm message of welcome, during which he # briefly outlined the position of the Dominion to-day, laying stress upon the fact that our cities and ports possess facilities which bring them into line with leading centres of the world, and that in many other respects also we are thoroughly up to date. He also dealt with the wonderful tourist attractions Which this country has to offer, attraclions which surpass those fauied in many other parts of the world; and he issued « cordial invitation to the people of all •ountries to come and see these, and to JBjoy the hospitality which awaits them in the Dominion, . The. proceedings went through without a hitch or .any sort, Sir Joseph speaking In a firm, quiet tone, admirably. suited :*o* the purpose* o£ recording.
