She will load approximately 1000 bases of butter, 7000 crates of cheese, 15,000 freight carcasses of frozen meat, and a quantity of general cargo tor London. ‘ The Port- Darwin arrived at Lyttelton on Saturday from Wellington for final loading. She Is to salt from Lyttelton to-morrow for London, via Panama. The Canadian Cruiser Is scheduled to leave Halifax on January 25 with cargo for discharge at Auckland and Australian ports. ■ This fixture Is In addition to the usual monthly steamer from Canada. The steamer Ferndalo arrived at Timaru last Friday evening from Calms, Queensland, to commence loading. She is due at Lyttelton ■to-day, and will lift a big cargo at the Canterbury port. The Ferndale Is to sail about the end of ,this week for Wellington. The New" Zealand Shipping Company's now motor liner Rangitata Is due at Lyttelton to-day from Wellington to commence loading. From Lyttelton she will proceed to Tokamaru Bay, Auckland, Kapler, and Wellington. The Rangltata Is timed to sail from Wellington on February 8 ’ for Southampton and London, via Panama. The British Admiralty notice to mariners with regard to wireless messages to merchant ships, published In 1029, has been republished With some revisions. The Atlantic Union Oil Company advises that the electric tanker Brunswick was expected to leave San Pedro on January 10 with a bulk oil cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney. The vessel Is duo at Auckland about the middle of February. 1 The New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the Rlrautaka was. to leave New Plymouth on Saturday for Oamaru to commence Homeward loading. The Union Company advises that the steamer Narbada Is due at Dunedin to-morrow morning from Calcutta and other Eastern ports, via Timaru, to discharge a largo quantity of Eastern merchandise. The vessel will sail about Friday for Bluff to complete discharge. CARGO FROM LONDON. The Shaw, Savlll, and Albion motor ship Zealandlc Is scheduled to leave London on February 5 with a general merchandise cargo for discharge at Suva, Port Chalmers. Lyttelton, and Timaru. She Is duo al Fort Chalmers on March 17. THE CANADIAN CHALLENGER. Cabled news has " been received by the . Canadian National Steamships that the Canadian Challenger left Panama canal on January 8 for New Zealand ports, cn route from Halifax. The vessel Is due at Auckland about February 6, and at Dunedin about 1 February 16.-

KARETU PROM AUSTRALIA. The Union Company advises that the Karetu Is due at Dunedin this morning from Newcastle and Sydney, via ports, to discharge gen- ral cargo. She la to sail to-night for Bluff, thence Launceston, Sydney, and Newcastle. The vessel will load at the two last-named ports for Dunedin, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Bluff. MOTOR SHIP ARMADALE. The motor ship Armadale, which Is discharging general cargo from New York at the Birch street wharf, la expected to sail this evening for Port Plrle. The vessel has been fixed to load at the South Australian port, probably for the United Kingdom. FORT DUNEDIN TO LOAD. The C. and D. Line’s motor ship Port Dunedin is duo at Pott Chalmers on Saturday from Picton to load frozen meat, dairy produce, and general cargo for Halifax and London. The vessel will sail on January 29 for Wellington and Auckland to complete loading. EAIMIRO AT FORT CHALMERS. The Union Company's new cargo steamer Kalmlro arrived In the lower harbour early yesterday morning from Wellington. She was docked at. Port Chalmers several hours later for cleaning and painting. The Kalmlro will sail on Thursday for Oamaru, Bluff, Greymouth. Melbourne, and Adelaide. The vessel has been fixed to load it Adelaide. Edithburg, Wallaroo, Melbourne, and Hobart during February for Bluff, Dunedin. Lyttelton, Wellington, New Plymouth, Auckland and Portland. RE JXUEBA LEAVES SOUTHAMPTON. CUMBERLAND FROM LIVERPOOL. ■ The Federal-Line steamer Cumberland, which arrived, at, Wellington , last Thursday evening from Liverpool, via Auckland, Is to leave tho northern port on Thursday for Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Bluff, and Timaru to complete discharge. She Is due at this port on January TOYOHIKO MARU FROM JAPAN. The Japanese steamer Toyohlko Maru arrived at Lyttolton on Saturday, from Auckland. She has a part cargo of Japanese sulphur for dlscnarge. She Is the first Japanese vessel to visit Lyttelton for about eight years. News has been received that Captain James J. Kearney, late of tho Baltic, has been appointed commander ot the White Star liner Adriatic, In succession to Captain V. W. Hickson, who recently retired. Captain E. Davis, formerly of the Athentlc, has taken command of the Baltic. Born In Cork In 1870, Captain Kearney joined the White Star Line In 1896, and has served In some of the famous old White Star ships, Including the Teutonic. For 20 years Captain Kearney has held command In tho White Star Line, his more recent ships being the Calgarlc, Doric, Megantlc, and Cedric.
