Lady Fairfax of Cameron, who brought with her a small son, bad previously attended some of the matrons lectures, so she was specially interested to take deputy duty yesterday. Others present included the Honourable Mrs Horne and the Honourable Mrs Borthwick. each of whom brought a small eon who did great credit to- the TrubyKmg methods. Lady Dawson of Penn, Lady Myers Lady Melchett, Mrs Ernst betuff, and Mrs Leslie Harris were among other members of the committee who were , not kept away by a somewhat miserable afternoon—meteorologically. Money-gifts amounted to ■ £75; other donations coming .in; and there was a liberal display of goods, all.of which are helpful to the commissariat needs of r Cromwell House. Friends sent in beautiful cakes for tea, so a very cheery afternoon was passed, and visitors, of course made a tour of the house to see the babies’ in residence.

Everything lit Cromwell House is carried through on strictly business lines, so that the hon treasurer, Mr E. R.
