Children playing on the line at the railway depot at Holloway road, lit a . fire under an empty 50-gallon drum. There was a terrific explosion, which shook, the district. Three small boys were killed and four seriously injured. LONDON, January 3. (Received Jan. 4, at 5 p.m.) .“ It looked as though somebody had flung a bomb,” said Mr Thomas Challis, describing the scene-when .he rushed up to, help: the boys .who - wero killed - and -injured by the explosion of- a petrol .drum. Eight arms were stretched out; lying in . a circle about the flaming drum. ’ Two hoy? were dead, and part of one’s face had been'/: blown away. ' Another was lying 25 yards distant. An eye-witndss said he jaw something like 1 a big doll flung irifo .the air which came down with a thud. It w.as the boy lying apart froni|the others. The boys’ ages were het#6en five and ten years. The injured imjjfude three brothers.
