The local side continued this morning, but the opening batsmen did not add many to the total. Zimmerman improvsd the position« He very r€* fc rained, but hit the loose balls whenever they came along. He was unlucky in getting out frpm a ball which bumped badly. Davey and Tonkin had a short but merry time, and the innings closed ror_96 runs. T*in orfdl P ta ß° followed on, and lost cll y ’ wl°i was soon cau S bt ?n the deep held. Dick was run out in going for a second run. Zimmerman and Carrington played carefully, and were not out at the luncheon adjournment. Shortly after resuming Carrington was caught, and Zimmerman soon followed, receiving another bumping ball which he returned to the bowler. ; Robertson was batting confidently when he attempted to lift a ball out of the ground, and was caught. The rest did uot get going, and tb" innings closed .for 8; runs, the visitors thus winning by ari innings and 148 runs. The visitors’ fielding was clean and neat. The field was placed tp the best advantage for saving boundaries. Their batting generally was solid and mostly along the ground, but the bowling appeared to be no better than that of the local side, some of whose batsmen certainly got themselves out.
