Express, conies to the conclusion that often the murderer is chosen on the “ eena*meena-mina-mo-out-coes-he principle," One writer, he says, -treats his reader ecurvily hy telling them at one point in the story that the identity of the murderer must now be clear to them/ when nothing is less clear. ‘‘One of these days I will , a detective tale,” be remarks, which will throw everybody into a confusion by the discovery m the last chapter that thejnurdered man was never murdered at allrbe merely went out to sec the time and forgot to come back."
