The American steamer Golden Coasf, having discharged the remainder of her general cargo from Pacific coast ports, sailed last evening for 1 Honolulu to load for San Francisco. Tha Breeze sailed last evening for Wellington with a cargo of cheese and butter for tranabipment to the motor ship Taranaki for London. The Progress, which arrived on Wednesday night from Wellington, sailed last evening for Tlmaru, Lyttelton and Wellington to. complete loading for New Plymouth and Port Waikato. The Gale arrived early yesterday morning from Wanganui, via ports. After discharge she will undergo annual survey and overhaul at Port Chalmers. The Kurow sailed last evening for Bluff to complete discharge. She Is due back at Dunedin on Tuesday to load general cargo for Tlmaru,' Lyttelton, Wellington and Auckland. The Union Company's tanker Otokla, which was docked at Auckland early this week, left the northern port on Wednesday night for San Pedro. She will load a cargo of bulk fuel oil at the Californian port for Wellington. The Shaw, Eavlll and Albion Company’s motor j ship Earamea ia reported to have left London on December 13 for Australian ports. After discharge In Australia the vessel Is to load for Home In New Zealand during February and Slarch. The Union Company’s chartered tanker Invercordon. bound from San Pedro to Wellington, has reported by wireless that she expects to arrive at the northern port on December 23. The Swedish motor ship Falsterbo arrived at Auckland on Tuesday to unload a part cargo of case oil from Port Arthur, Texas. From Auckland she Is to go to Wellington and Lyttelton to complete discharge. The six-masted schooner Helen B. Sterling, 2350 tons, has been purchased by tba Portland Pacific Export Lumber Company. She will probably continue to carry lumber from the Pacific coast to Australia. WAIRUNA FROSI PACIFIC COAST. The Union Company’s freighter Wairuna arrived at Dunedin late yesterday afternoon from Vancouver and San Francisco, via Lyttelton. She was berthed at the cross wharf, where the local portion of her Canadian and American cargo Is being discharged. The vessel will sail about Monday for New Plymouth and Napier to complete discharge. The Wairuna will afterwards go to Auckland to dock for denning and painting. CAMBRIDGE LOADING. The Federal Line steamer Cambridge arrived yesterday morning from Wanganui roadstead, and was berthed at Port Chalmers to load refrigerated cargo for London and west of England ports. The vessel Is to sail this evening for LyttoTlon and Wellington to complete loading. CORNWALL FROM LIVERPOOL. Slossrs Turnbull, Martin and Co. advise that the Federal Line steamer Cornwall is due at Port Chalmers on Sunday from Liverpool, via northern ports. The vessel has a large quantity of west of England cargo for discharge here. ♦ CORIXTHIC LEAVES COLON. Lawrence has been appointed third officer of tho Komata. PACIFIC COAST STEASIERS. In view of the increased freight offering from the Pacific coast to New Zealand by the Oceanic and Oriental Navigation Company, it has been decided to Inaugurate a monthly service to Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin, commencing with the Golden Coast, which Is scheduled to leave from Los Angeles on Slarch 1. It has also been decided to make Tlmaru a regular port of call every three months, commencing with the Golden Cross, which wilt sail from Los Angeles on April 1. This line has already a monthly service to Auckland and Wellington, but Lyttelton and Dunedin have been touched only on alternate months, and Tlmaru as sufficient Inducement offered. The Union Company’s new cargo steamer Kalmlro arrived at Wellington last Monday morning from Greenock via the Panama canal, and berthed at the Thorndon breastwork. The ship was built and engined by Messrs Caramon, Laird and Co.,Birkenhead, and left there on October 21 for Greenock to undergo her trials. The vessel attained a speed of 11.3 knots on a loaded draught. The Kalmlro left Greenock on October 20 with a cargo of 3300 tons of Welsh coal and 650 tons of bunkers. A atop was made at Colon to load 420 tons of bunker coal. Generally fine weather prevailed throughout the passage, which was uneventful. The Kalmlro was specially built for the transport of coal and designed on the sclftrlmmlng cantilever system. There ate five water-tight transverse bulkheads dividing the ship Into three large cargo holds, machinery space, and forward and after-peak tanks. The ship ha* six large hatches and a very complete equipment of steam winches and cargo derricks. The Kalmlro la 284 fact In length by 48 feet breadth, and 21 feet In depth, her gross register being 2562 tons and her net register 1330 tons. The officers and engineers are housed amidships, the other members of the crew being accommodated In tho poop. The propelling machinery Is also Installed In the after end of the ship. After discharging her cargo, the ship will lay up at Wellington till after the holidays, and will then enter the Greymouth coal trade. Captain J. Banklne went Home to bring the Kalmlro from Birkenhead to New Zealand, and on tho voyage ho had with him the following officers: Chief, Mr W. W. Molyneur; second, Sir C. K. Cannon; third, Mr F. R. Reay; chief engineer. Mr C. Bradley; second engineer, Mr B. R. Smith; third engineer, Mr W. C. Wise; wireless operator, Mr A. S. Green.
