MR BALDWIN’S PROPHECY
A HEAVY BUDGET DEFICIT. FRESH BURDENS ON INDUSTRY. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, December 15. (Received Dec. 15, at 5.5 p.m.) Mr Baldwin, when speaking at Edinburgh, prophesied a Budget deceit of £20,000,000 to £30,000,000 or £40,000,000, the main part of which must be met by extra taxation. The Government was piling fresh burdens on industry and the solution of the unemployment problem was becoming increasingly impossible by reason of Labour’s extravagance and the atmosphere of uncertainty.
