RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. (Special to Daily Times.) CHRISTCHURCH. December 14. The inside of the trial grass track at Riccarton was open for fast work this morning, and provided good going. There was a fair amount ot work, nut not many gallops of special interest. Paquito and Count Cavour attracted a lot of attention when they went out for a mile and a-quarter spin, the Viscount accompanying them for the last four furlongs and a-half. Count Cavour had a slight advantage most of the way, but 100 yards from the post Paquito’s rider made an effort, and when the post was reached he was on terms with Count Cavour. The time was 2min 9sec. It was a particularly good effort, entirely pleasing to the connections of both. The Auckland Cup candidate (Hoylake) reeled off seven furlongs attractively in Imin 31aee, while Phaster and Commenter ran six in Imin 18sec. Dunraven gave Coroner a start from the half-mile_ post. Dunraven gradually overhauled his mate, and he was going the_ better of the pair at the end after registering 48 4-Ssec—a smart effort. Danthonia gave a very good display in a school • over four hurdles. Bladon started with him, but he was beaten off. Parysia and Tnrquinius sprinted half a mile up the back in olsoc. . Coupling beat Thurso over six furlongs in Imin 19sec. Hurly Burly rattled over half a mile up the back in 49 3-ssec, showing plenty of dash Audience registered Slsec for half a mile. Amor covered five furlongs in Imin ssee, and was going well at the end. Ha will accompany Count Cavour to Auckland. Silver Coot dashed over half a mile up the back in 49sec, Noteworthy taking 40 2-ssec. J° se left a mile behind in Imin 43 2-ssec. It was a good performance, and he should pay his way during the holidays, Tane and Waihemo finished clear of Xopere after sprinting half a mile in Slsec.
