The quarterly meeting of the Centra] Otago Licensing Committee was held in the Court House to-day, when Mr Dixon, S.M., presided. The members present were: Messrs C. Murphy, W. Reid. W. Jelley. L. Faigan, and E, Morgan. An application was received for a transfer of the license of the Newtown Hotel, Matakanni, Mr Trnesdale. to Felix Donnelley (Mr Sunderland) .—Granted. An application was received for the permanent transfer of the license of the Victoria Hotel from Mr Anderson to Mr K. A. M'Kensie.—Granted. An application was received on behalf of Mr Provan, for whom Mr Sunderland appeared, for a conditional license lor the Dnjutea reoee.-rGraated, nbject
to the local constable putting in a written satisfactory report on the licensee. An application was received from Mr Tikey, of Ophir (Mr Sunderland) for a conditional license for the booth at the Vincent Jockey Club races.—Granted, subject to the local police report being satisfactory. Mr Whetter made an application for a conditional license for the St. Bathans races, and aa he baa sold out it was decided that Mr Peterson, the incoming licensee, apply for the license. It was decided that all applications be subject to the following conditions:— That all licensees haring booths at the races close the liquor booths at the time fixed for the last race, and that the booths be closed not later than 5.50 pun. All the Lawrence applications together with an application for a license from Heriofc were adjourned till the annual meeting on June 6. 1930. An application by Arthur A, Clatworthy for a transfer of a temporary license for the Ancient Briton Hotel to Albert 8. Duncan wag granted. * Mr Scott, of Cromwell, who acted as deputy registrar at the meeting, has since been transferred to Wellington. CENTRAL OTAGO POWER BOARD. The _ Central Otago Electric Power Board is looting to the future, and at its: next meeting a notice of motion will be. moved by one of the members—" That steps be taken to acquire the Roaring Meg water right*, with a view, to developing the power for electricity for the Otago Central Board, and for pumping .water from the river for irrigating the Cromwell Flat.
