ROYAL DUNEDIN MALE CHOIR.
Excellent music and good singing characterise the concerts of the Royal Difnedin Male Choir, and Dr Gahvay and hia men will give an entertainment on Monday next in His Majesty’s Theatre. One of the best items will be a cantata, “ Christmas Eve,” a musical gem on the birth of the Saviour, which Stanley Mar* chant has arranged to the words of Mar-, tin Luther. The solo part will be taken by Mias Meda Paine. The other choir items include rousing sea chanties, a festival carol, “Ring Out, Wild Bells,” and folk songs. A pleasing contralto singer. Miss Margaret Howden, .will contribute two songs in Sullivan’s “ Will He Come,” and Handel's “ Lascio Ch’io Pianga,” the recitative air_ from “ Rinaldo.” Mr J. Gordon Dick is the baritone soloist, and he will sing one of the “ Country Lover ” ballads, “ The Little Waves of Breffny.” Mr J. D. M’Kechnic’s rich, deep bass voice should be hard to advantage in Franz Schubert's “Wanderer.” An instrumental treat is promised by a trio consisting of the choir pianist. Mr C. A. Martin, L.A.8., a violinist. Miss Ethel Wallace, L.T.C.L., and a violin 'cellist, Mr Lloyd Hunter, the pieces presented being Mendelssohn’s “Allegro Assai Appassionata ” and Gaune's “Extase.” The box plan arrangements are advertised.
