QUEENSTOWN.

TO THE EDITOR. Sib,—Your contributor " Walato," -whose article on Queenstown appeared in last Saturday's issue asks, "What is there about the air of Queenstown that unmistakably rejuvenates humans? Is it because the town is situated on the borders of the southern hemisphere's greatest sheet of fresh water? " The answer is "No," because it is not so situated. " Walalo " says he has been travelling for 50 years in other -parts of the world* but it surely must have been entirely in the northern hemisphere, because, there are larger lakes thao Wakatipu practically everywhere in the southern hemisphere. Certainly there are in South Africa and in South America, and even in Australia in wet seasons. In New Zealand, too, Wakatipu is not the largest body of water (though one quite frequently sees it eo described in print). Taupo is our largest lake. .11 I i R uite agree with vour contributor that Queenstown is the most picturesquelysituated town in New Zealand, and very few towns anywhere in the world could perhaps, be found to equal it for beauty of outlook, but it ia better to be accurate when mentioning such matters.—l am, A'u -xv t w , Veritas.
