■there was a good attendance of members at the animal meeting of the X.E. Valley branch of the W.C.T.U. Mrs Peart was in tlie chair. The subject of her address Mas £ Courage/ 1 in which she i eferred to the courage of Queen Esther when she approached the King in order to ask his protection for her people (the Jews) from their enemies. The business part of the evening was taken up with the annual reports of the officers and superintendents of departments, which were read and received. Mrs Peart' thanked these officers for the help they had given to her dunn"’ their year of office and then asked Mrs Don to take the chair, and conduct the election of officers for the ensuing year. This rcsultcd in all of the previous year’s officers being re-elected.
