WHAT STRATEGISTS EXPECT.. A GLOOMY PROSPECT. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) LONDON, November 13. (Received Nov. 14, at 5.5 p.m.) “Strategists expect the next war between 1935 and 1940,” declared Mr Delisle Burns, citizenship lecturer, of the Glasgow University, when addressing a peace meeting. It will be a war against civilians, thus trenches will probably be the safest places. Since 1918 gunnery has become so efficient that it could hit accurately at 17 miles, while the bombing range of aircraft was 400 miles. Great Britain alone was spending £200,000 . a year on the discovery of poison gas.
