KILDARE HILL GOLD MINING COMPANY.

TO THB EDITOR. Sir, —Those shareholders who are letting their shares in the Kildare Company go for less than 5s are, in my opinion, a very faint-hoarted lot. The late manager of the St. Bathana Company, Mr Byron Moore, was of opinion that the lead would extend three miles across the flat towards Vinegar Hill and that there was no reason why it should not extend 18 miles to Matakanui. Even at Mr Nicolson’a very low estimate, as compared with that of the present manager, Mr Johnson, it is very rich. I saw a prospect from one dish which most companies would be glad to see obtained from one cubic yard. In years gone by at the upper end of the lead it was a regular thing to get IOOOoz at least for each half-yearly wash up—£Booo per annum gross, when £2500 per annum would pay expenses. The capital of the present company is £BOOO. The- present company has all the water formerly held by the Scandinavian Company, and should be able to do mucb more work than any former occupants of the ground, and its manager knows very well what he is doing and is a very reliable man. What motive has Mr Nicolson in “bearing the market? _lt strikes me he has a grouch of some kind and is disgruntled, as years ago he was a big holder in the Scandinavian Company. Playing the role of benefactor to his fellow men will not . cut any ice.” It is not only bis proximity to Vinegar Hill that has made him sour.—l am. etc., Old Hand.
