MANIOTOTO HOSPITAL BOARD

The ordinary meeting o£ the Maniototo Hospital Board was. held in the County Chambers, Naseby, on Mondav. There were present: Messrs H. W. Davis (chairman) E. Morgan, W. Strong, T. A. Lowis, T * D °wling, and N.. Nicolson. •'Jr T. Ramsay forwarded an apology for absence through illness. The Director-general of Health wrote that the Minister of Health would, no daubt, approve of a subsidy on a small •V-rsy plant for the Eanfurly Hospital. —lhe matter was referred to Mr Lowis and Dr Eudev.

The Director-general also wrote that subsidy was not payable on interest on bequests, nor on the donations of l paid servants nor of members who received lees from the board- It would be necessary to delete the' donations of the chairman and Dr Eudey from the application for subs id v.

The Minister of Health telegraphed several dates on which ha could attend the laying of the. foundation stone of the Ran-fin-ly Hospital.—The board selected Thurs'da>, .November 28, for the ceremony. Dr Maclean, medical health officer. Dunn, forwarded a list of T.B. patients in the district, who were not being treated in the sanatorium. ‘ There' were 34 on the "n - , w°uld instruct the inspector to collect the information of the dates when they arrived in the district.—Mr Strong thought it was a deplorable thing that the sanatorium did not provide for advanced cases.—Mr Aitken moved—“ That m view of the report of the Health Department as to the number of .T.B. cases irons outside districts now resident in our Maniototo district, particularly from‘diesthe Associated Boards, I. move that the Associated Boards be requested to assume responsibility for their consumptive patients for two years from the beginning of their residence in the Maniototo district." ■ ,

The secretary of the Otago Hospital Board forwarded details of patients admuted to the Dunedin Hospital from this district.

A deputation from the Lauder Combined Medical Club was introduced by Air Lowis (chaintian of the club). It consisted of Messrs G. Alexander, W. Alexander, C. Brown, and John Beattie.—The speakers laid; the financial position of the club before the meeting. The last balance sheet showed a deficiency of £355. This was chiefly due to the Health Department having reduced its subsidy from 24s in the £ fo 20s. .The reduction entailed a loss ot £6O per annum.
