FIRES ON STEAMERS
ABBEKERK’S HOLD ABLAZE. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph Copyright.) . LONDON, November 7. A message from Aden states that the steamer Abbekerk, of Hamburg, en route from Antwerp to Brisbane, arrived at Aden with fire in No. 5 hold. The flooding of the hold will probably be necessary. THE, FIRE EXTINGISHED. LONDON, November 7. A message from Aden states that the Abbekerk’s fire was extinguished, and she is now discharging coal from the lower hold. BLAZE ON DUTCH VESSEL. CAPETOWN, November 7. The Dutch cargo steamer Sumatra returned to the docks after a night at sea with her cargo of wool on fire. Fire engines waited for the arrival of the steamer. The cargo was unloaded.
