PAPAYER PILOSUM.
This handsome poppy should find a place in every garden by virtue of its large apricot-coloured blossoms, produced with amazing freedom throughout the summer and autumn months. The plant is of branching habit, about IBin in height, and the lovely soft apricot blooms gain additional beauty from the bunch of creamy stamens so conspicuously displayed. Seed may be sown of this, as of all perennial poppies, at any time from August to May, upon a well-prepared bed in the garden. Scatter the seeds thinly, keep the seedlings fne from weeds, and thin out if necessary while the seedlings are yet quite small. The plants may be transferred to their permanent quarters in the early autumn or in the spring, the time being determined by the date of sowing the seeds. P. Pilosum is effective when grouped boldly in the border, its apricot colouring combining nicely with almost any other flowers. It is beautiful, too, when massed alone, and is certainly one of the most delightful of all perennial poppies.
