ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES.
CAR STRUCK BY TRAIN. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, November 8. A motor car was wrecked on the Blake street level crossing at Avondale this morning. The driver, J. H. Houghton, of Wnimanku, escaped unhurt, while his companion, Mr Bridgford, received facial injuries. The car was struck by a train which left Auckland for the north. The impact was severe, and both men were hurled out. Mr Bridgford, who is 81 years of age, was sent to the Auckland Hospital.
MOTOR CYCLIST’S DEATH. (Special to Daily Times.) AUCKLAND, November 8, Fatal injuries to the head were received by a motor cyclist named Claude Mold, aged 21 years, of Manurewa, as the result of a collision which occurred on the Great South road at Otahuhu this afternoon. Mold was proceeding south, and a motor lorry 1 and a large service bus were travelling in the same direction ahead of him. Mold's machine collided violently with the front left wheel of the bus and he was hurled to the ground. He was gravely injured, his skull being fractured. Death occurred in a few minutes. Mold was employed at the Westfield Freezing Works.
FOUND WITH THROAT CUT. (Per United Press Association.) PAHIATUA, November 8. Herbert Ingamells, a labourer, single, aged 47, was found dead in his tent with his throat cut on the Makairo farm, where he was employed. The deceased in May, 1927, attempted suicide in a similar way.
FOUND HANGING. (Pee United Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH. November 8. Ronald Joseph Heslop, aged 22, was found hanging in a shed at his father’s farm at Brookside this afternoon. Healop had left home to do gorse cutting on the farm, and did not return to lunch, A search was made, and the father found him. A doctor who was summoned declared that the man had been dead for some hours.
