CHILD ENDOWMENT
ABOLITION FAVOURED,
NEW SOUTH WALES PROPOSAL,
(United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, November 6. (Received Nov. 7, at 1.45 a.m.) The New South Wales Government is considering a proposal to abolish child endowment and substitute a scheme - financed by employers and employees at the rate of 6d a week. It is believed that this scheme could also be applied to widows’ pensions. The question of fixing a basic wage for a man and his wife, with an average family, could then be proceeded with independently of child endowment or widows’ pensions.
