CONCILIATION PROCEEDINGS,

■, I WELLINGTON, November S. . The conciliation proceedings in connects tion with the typographical dispute were commenced to-day. The Conciliation Commissioner {Mr P. Hally), in opening the proceedings, referred with regret to the loss by death of three men who had long been associated with the printing trade—Sir George Fenwick, of Dunedin; Mr James Gamble, of Christchurch, and Mr Nisbet MTlobie, of Auckland, and a motion of sympathy with the relatives was passed. Mr G. C. Cod!in expressed the pleasure of the assessors at the commissioner’s' successful efforts in securing a settlement in the Auckland slaughtermen’s dispute. The council‘went into committee to discuss the of the typographical disr pute. .The assessors for the employers arc Messrs G. C. Godlin, C. W. Earle, E. A. Blundell, P. Bond, G. . Clark, and H. Harris.- . .The, employees’ assessors are Messrs D.Tlyrie, W. Sinclair, H. Sines*' tonV, J. W. Hatton, F. Marshall, and W. J. Sinimonds.
An agreement was reached on several minor matters, and the council then adjourned until to-morrow.
