HEAD MASTERS’ SALARIES.
DEPUTATION TO MINISTERS. RETROSPECTIVE INCREASE SOUGHT. (Per United Press Association.) WELLINGTON, September 26. Representatives of the Headmasters’ Association waited on the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward) and the Minister of Education (Mt,„H. Atmofe) requesting that the Government should grant a retrospective increase in the salaries of headmasters. While agreeing that the salaries were inadequate, Sir Joseph Ward said he could not grant the request immediately on account of the financial position of the country, but he was considering the claims of the headmasters as well as the claims of other sections of the civil service He assured them that they had the full' symnsthv of the Government.
