OLD IDENTITIES

PORT CHALMERS ASSOCIATION. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Port Chalmers Old Identities’ . Association was held in the Town Hall last night, when there was a good attendance of members. Mr J. Farquharsou (president) was chairman, and welcomed the visitors. The chairman said that tlje committee, in submitting the annual report, felt sure the members would "agree, that the past year’s operations, were the mpst successful for some time past. The membership had increased/.by -37, there was .an ,increasing interest jn the assor elation, and its .pi’ospects. for the future were ! very , promising. ' ■ ■The losses through death had severed many old links in the pioneering chain, "arid it was. : with deep regret that the committee had recorded the death of the following members:—Mr H. Holden, Mr G. Styles, Mr .C, Miller, Mrs F. Holden, Mrs R. Crawford, Mrs J. L., Athfield, Mrs G. Clark, Mrs J. Kemp, Mrs W. Borlase, Mrs W. Robertson,, and Mrs E. Godfred. The monthly meetings of the committee had been fairly well attended, and the president wished to record" his warm appreciation of its support. All the members of the committee were eligible for re-election that evening. Their secretary (Mr E. Knewstubb) was. held in very high esteem., and the committee regarded him as indispensable. The entertainments during the year were very successful, and the chairman proffered the thanks of the association to Mrs J. Morgan and. her party, especially in regard to the presentation of the musical pageants. The finances were satisfactory, and donations from Mr I. Stevenson and several others were gratefully acknowledged, The chairman concluded by expressing, the hope that they should all meet again at the next annual meeting. Mr A. Johnson was elected president for the year. The retiring president said that Mr Johnson deserved the honour as he had worked hard for the association almost since its inception. .- Mr Farquharsou was presented with a past president’s badge, the newly, elected president stating that Mr Farquharson had been a remarkably successful president aud the association had prospered under his control.

Matson, Mr,.J. Shepperd, and Mr L. Jack gave a number of singing and musical itemk '
