EX-CONSTABLE J. M. BREXXAX.

■ Hie death occurred at Dunedin 'yesterday of ex-Constable John' Malachi Brennan, who retired from the Xcw Zealand Police Forces on pension a good many years ago. He served with the Royal Irish Constabulary, the famous police force which ,is second only to the world-renowned Royal Xortb-Wost and now know as the Royal Canadian Mounted Roßce. - He was stationed in the cities of Dublin, Belfast, and Londonderry, remaining in the Irish force for nearly 10 years. Kc came to Xew Zealand in 1878, and joined the Police Force, then under Superintendent \Vcldon, Inspector .Mallard, and Sergeantmajor Bevin, in February of that year as a trooper. He served in Dunedin cHy for sonic tm'c. and then in the Falrhe district for about five years Later on he was transferred back to Otago, and did duty at Cavcrsham. Anderson s Bay, and Portobello.
