A CHEMIST FINED.
QUESTION .OF BRANCH SHOP. SUPERVISION - NOT ADEQUATE. (Per United Press Association.) • WELLINGTON, September 25. “It seems to be. in conflict with. the spirit of the Act that a drug store where medical prescriptions are received and are later, distributed to patients should be under the control of unskilled men,” said the magistrate (MnE, Page) l n a judgment' delivered to-day. .' “In many cases advice or instructions have to he obtained from a chemist as to the method of applying, or taking medicine or a mixture, but * ;als ho safely given cxdept by qualified men.” . •
The case was one in which W. S. Wallace was charged under section 40 of the Pharmacy Act, 1008, that-being a registered chemist he kept under his, name an open shop for compounding or dispensing of prescriptions, the said shop not . being under his immediate supervision and control, or that of his duly enrolled manager. When the case was heard it was stated that prescriptions were received at the Lambton quay shop hut were made up at the .Willis street snop The defendant was,lined £5 Is security for appeal being-fised at . £lO
