SWIMMING TOURNAMENT.
CHRISTIAN BROTHERS* HIGH SCHOOL SUCCESSFUL INITIAL VENTURE. The first annual swimming tournament of the Christian Brothers School was held yesterday afternoon in the Municipal Baths. For an initial venture the tournament Was an undoubted success, and the organisation and conduct of the meeting left nothing to be deeired. In this respect, indeed, the organisers set' an example which might .well be followed by other clubs. The programme of events, although a lengthy one, was swum off with despatch, and without a bitch of any description, and despite the earliness of the season, the form shown by some of the swimmers was surprisingly good, more especially when it is considered that, as the school is in receipt of uo subsidy from the Education Department, the pupils do not receive the free use of the baths for practice purposes. The thanks of the press representatives are due to Masters J. Cull and R. Cummings, who were efficient and courteous press stewards. Results:— Learners’ Width (open).—H. Salmon 1, R. Carroll 2, H.
