Bs Clarence. - ; - ' MRS TRACEY L.V. MEMORIAL. Last Saturday the Otago Open Cloursing . Club - commenced the running- of the ' Mrs P. Tracey L.V. Memorial trophy, a stake for eight .all-aged greyhounds, on Mr.. - property at -Maungatua. -The day was ideal, and .all the coursing events were full of interest. ‘Hares were plentiful and very strong, arid three courses were of ■ three to -five minutes’ duration’each. -\ During the afternoon over SO persons took part: in the heat. Mr R. Prebble, as; judge, had several close decisions to record, .but in all he .proved, himself capable. , Mr E. Jury, who handled, the leash as slipper for the first time, proved very efficient, arid in every release each brace got away evenly. At the close of the day Mr W. Little’s Lady Bell and Mr Ai Sinith’s Snowdrift were left’in for the final, course. .However, Lady JBell had an injured leg and Snowdrift had completed three long gruelling* courses arid was a’ tired dog, and it was fortunate, perhaps, that a final bare could not be. found. The committee .therefore decided to adjourn the final nin -for the cup . till. October 12, when the ’ Farewell' Stake for the . season will also be run-. - ; The following are details ■of the running;—. - MRS TRACEY L.V.,MEMORIAL.—First dog. £6 and cup valued at £7 7a.(subscribed by. licensed victuajlerg and others)second dogj. £3 10s‘. .. . _ Morris’s Roy a! Ralston’s Meadow Lark and Morris’s Tiger Micky treated the spectators to a , and exciting course, .in which Meadow Lark was the better scorer, although in the run up Tiger Micky seemed to have the better of it. When the flag waa hoisted for Meadow Lark it was a'gobd winner,;but puss rpiriped aw£iy fr6m-her. pursuers. .Dickson s Heroic led M’Cafntnon’s Irish. Elegance by several lengths (3 points) and turned, the hare. These dogs then continued, to race for over-a mile, wheft 1 the quarry evaded them: - - • -v7 . , the first -ties Lady Bell 'led Meadoiv Lark, and then several exchanges’ were made,.
