ATMORE-SAMUEL INCIDENT.
NOT A BREACH OF PRIVILEGE. REPORT OP SPECIAL COMMITTEE. (From Oor Parliamentary Reporter, 1 WELLINGTON, September 25. " In the opinion of the committee the words complained of do not constitute a. breach of privilege as they were used in a jocular sense.” Tins was the finding which the Committee on Privilege reported to the House of Representatives to-day in regard to the recent lobby incident in which the Minister of Education (Mr H. Atmore) said to Mr A. M. Samuel (Reform member for Thames), “I will tell them something about you in Egypt. , Speaking to the report, the Leader of the Opposition (Mr J. G. Coates) stated that the finding representd the consensus of opinion of the committee. The resolution would not have been arrived at had the members not been satisfied that the remarks were made in a jocular sense and that no deduction could be taken from them. The report was tabled.
