DEAN INGE.
A DESCENDANT OF EDWARD 111. The Very Rev. W. R. Inge, Dean of St. Paul’s, is descended from King Edward 111, in the twenty-first generation (says a writer in the Genealogists’ Magazine, the official quarterly organ of the Society of Genealogists, Bloomsbury square, Hoi born, W.C. Dean Inge’s pedigree is traced through that monarch’s third son, the Puke of Clarence, whose granddaughter married Lord Percy, famous as “Hotspur.” Their descendants included members of the families of Clifford, Dudley, Ferrand, Hcher, and Lister, one of whom, Nathaniel Lister (of the family of the late Lord Ribblesdale) had a granddaughter who married Rev. Charles Inge, grandfather of the dean. On February 4 last the Daily Mail quoted from the Genealogists’ Magazine, the descent of Sir Kynaston Studd, Lord Mayor of London, from Edward 111. It is a coincidence that the present vivic and ecclestical heads of the City of London should both be descended from that Sovereign.
