(Received August 10, at 5.5 p.m.) Dr Osborn, when speaking at a,dinner to the Pan-Pacific Science Council, extreme caution in the efforts to prevent reproduction in defectives, saying that such measures would hare prevented the birth of Edgar Allan Poe, Dr Pulleine discussed the influences ot Nature and nurture as bearing on tlie inedicai and legal aspects of crime. Sir James Barrett discussed the adand disadvantages of Nationalism. He praised New Zealand’s solution of the Maori problem, and commended the principle of selfdetermination as advanced at the Peace Conference.—Australian Press Association.
