DUNEDIN GUN CLUB.
Sweepstake matches were held at the Dunedin Club’s grounds, Green Island, on Saturday afternoon. There was , a fair attendance of members and visitors. Weather conditions were not pleasant, with rain and a gale of wind, but the shooters revelled in their attempts at the fleeting clay birds,, and some clever breaks were recorded. In the first sweepstake handicap of 15 clay birds, W. M’Breen (12 yards) put up a fine performance in breaking 14 (12 first barrel), and won the first pv'ze money. G. E. Turner (16 yards) secured second money with 13 breaks (10 first barrel). Other best scores were;—T. Callaghan (13 yards) 12, E. P. Graham (20 yards) 10, R. M‘Donald (13 yards) 9. T. Long (11 yards) 9. An intei'csting mock quail drive sweepstake concluded the afternoon’s sport, Mr A. J. White controlled the trap lever, and provided each shooter with a variety of distances. With five breaks each, W. M'Breen (all first barrel) and E. P. Graham divided the prize money. The matches were refereed by G. E. Turner and J. Hutchison respectively.
