BRITISH EMPIRE CLUB.
PRESENTATION OP TROPHIES. (From Oca Own Correspondent.) LONDON, June 28. Some of the New Zealanders who enjoyed the hospitality of the British Empire Club when they were visiting London ■ a year or so ago on their return to the ‘ Dominion addressed a letter to the then Prime Minister, Mr Coates, pointing out the generous way in which the club extended its privileges to oversea? visitors, not only from the dominions, but from British possessions in all parts of the world. They also drew his attention to the fact that although game trophies from other countries adorned the wall of the club, there were none from New Zealand, and they asked the Prime Minister to' - remove this defect by presenting to the ‘ club specimens pf trout, stag’s head, and a swordfish bead. This, Mr Cogtes readily agreed to, and now the first of the specimens, the trout, has come to band. This was presented to the club at a pleasant little luncheon the other day at which members of the committee and a number of prominent New Zealanders, including the High Commissioner, were present. It was stated that the other trophies would shortly follow. Sir James Parr, in making the presentation, spoke of the scenery and the facilities for sport in the Dominion.
