DROUGHT AND FLOOD. SEVERAL PEOPLE DROWNED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright) TOKIO, August -11. (Received August 11, at 11:46 p.m.) While the capital and the adjacent districts are suffering from excessive heat and the continued drought- is threatening avwater famine Niigata was flooded severely yesterday, the deluge causing landslides which interrupted the railways. One train was overturned. Hundreds of houses were washed away and many deaths from drowning are reported.—Australian Press Association.
