HOMEWARD BOUND

ALL BLACKS LEAVE SYDNEY. TRIBUTE TO SPORTSMANSHIP. '(United Press Association.* (By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) SYDNEY, August 2. The Herald, in an editorial, says; “ The New Zealanders depart to-day after having enhanced their reputation for sportsmanship and clean play. The defeats by South Africa and Australia are new experiences to the All Blacks, and raise doubts as to the expediency of the tactical disposition of their forwards. It is at least arguable that a scrum of seven men must be beaten more often than not by a scrum of eight.” The Herald adds; “Followers of the Union code are greatly indebted to New Zealand for the periodical visits of teams which have eased the financial position and have provided our players with invaluable experience.” ENTHUSIASTIC SEND-OFF. SYDNEY, August 2. (Received Aug. 2, at 10 p.m.) The All Blacks sailed for Auckland by the Ulimaroa at 4 p.m. They were given a most enthusiastic send-off by union officials and many friends made during the tour.
