ARTISTS' HANDICAPS.

TO THE EDITOR. . Sir,—Concerning the sketch exhibition by Dunedin artists now being held in’the Bristol Piano Company’s rooms, I would like to say that it seems a great pity that , the artists have to resort to such accommodation.- The room. is far too small, and some of the sketches hung are only two feet from the. floor level. Consequently the good work is not shown to advanatge. Thanks " are due to the Bristol Piano; Company for the use of the room, but at the same time, in my opinion, a room should be provided for the artists, the majority of whom are members of the Dunedin Public Art Gallery Society. ' As the members of the isocicty-have no room where they can have exhibitions -and, meetings it is with some , difficulty, that local exhibitions, etc., are held. It Is to be hoped that the architect who’makes the additions' to the' gallery at Logan Park will make provision for a suitable room which could be used" by both honorary and working members, as at present they have not any, such place. Meetings for the last 20^ years have been held in offices and in private residences. This should not be. The Dunedin Public Art Gallery Society .should give this matter its consideration, at an-early date. Now that we have a newly-elected council it is to be hoped'that it will, leave no "stone unturned! to improve matters.—l.am, etc.,, 1 1 More Room For Art.;
