The meeting of Royal Oak Lodge was held in the lodgeroom, Caversbam, AT). Bto. C. Tidey presiding. D.P. Bro. Welsh was present officially, and. received a hearty welcome. P.G.P. Bro. Cameron (Canterbury) was also a welcome visitor. Bro. A. E. Churchill was elected a dele-, gate to the combined Booklet Committee. It was decided to enter a team for the general efficiency competition. Members were reminded of the annual friendly societies’ church parade on Sunday, August 4. The lodge was adjourned early in order to carry out the item on t,he syllabus, “ Hard-up Night.” Several ladies were admitted, and a pleasant time was spent at cards. During supper A.D. Bro. Bezett (Enterprise) was presented with the trophy, which he had won in connection with the recent A.D. competition.

The fortnightly meeting of Linden Lodge was held on Tuesday, the officers of the R.A. Chapter attending for the purpose of conducting the business of the evening. R.A.D. Bro. Walker presided over a good attendance of officers and members, and gave a cordial welcome to G. Bro. A. Watson, who attended, accompanied by his officers of the Board of Management. The usual business was conducted, and during the evening some very interesting discussions took place. It was decided to hold a progressive euchre evening next lodge night to which the lady friends of members would he invited. In replying the toast of Grand Lodge, G.P. Bro, A, Watson gave an interesting address, and emphasised the necessity of bringing new members into the' Order. A vote of thanks was accorded the chapter officers for the very efficient manner in which they occupied the chairs, after which an excedingly interesting meeting was brought to a close. Lily of the Valley Lodge held its fortnightly meeting on Wednesday in the Millar Street Hall, North-East Valley. A.D. Bro. W, Doig presided, there being a large number of members present, including the officers and members of Otago Lodge. Linden Lodge sent in a challenge for the euchre shield, and it was decided to accept it and play off the 11, match on September 11. The majority of the members present decided to attend the friendly societies’ memorial service in the Central Mission Hall on Sunday, August 4. Members Sire reminded that nest meeting will commence at 7 p.m., and after the general business has been completed a social evening and dance will be held. The regular meeting of Enterprise Lodge was presided over by A.D. Bro. E. H. Bezett, with a good attendance of members. Before the business of the evening was commenced, the passing away of a pioneer member, Bro. J. M. Gallaway, was brought before the lodge, a motionof sympathy being carried in silence. It was resolved again to enter a team in the general efficiency competition. The sec-, retary of the Booklet Committee presented the balance sheet, and Secretary Bro. R. S. Webb was re-elected to represent the lodge on the Combined Booklet Committee. P.G.P. Bro. A. E. Churchill and M.C. Bro. Hunt, of Royal Oak, placed before the lodge a suggestion of holding a combined dance in the lodgeroom on September 11 for the purpose of raising funds to purchase a new set of regalia fpr Progress Juvenile Lodge. This was agreed to. During the P.G.P. Bro. Cameron (Christchurch) had the pleasure of presenting PA. Bro, H. J. Peacock with his diploma, Bro. Peacock suitably replying. DJ?. Bro. J. B. Welsh attended,- and in hia official capacity installed the. V.A.. bards,,. Bros. Mann and Stewart. Two new members were initiated, and one proposition received. The lodge decided to take part in the U.P.B. church parade, to be held on Sunday. In replying to the toast of the visitors, P.G.P, Bro, Cameron, of Christchurch, gave the lodge some very interesting information of the working of the Canterbury Jurisdiction, which jWas much appreciated by members. : After. the customary Druidic toasts, had been given the lodge was duly closed; Visitors present daring the evening were D.P. Bro, J. B. Welsh, P.6.P. Bro. E. Cameron, (of Canterbury), P.G.P. Bro A. E. Churchill (Royal Oak), P.D.P. Bro. H. G. Ford (Lily), A.D. Bro C W Tidey (Royal Oak), and M.O. Bro. H. R. Hunt (Royal Oak). A.D. Bro. Butterworth presided over a good attendance of members of Pride of Mornington Lodge on Thursday night. Arrangements were made for attenefing the annual church parade on Sunday, and also a visit to Lily of the Valley Lodge on their next meeting night. The members of Otago Lodges were present to hold a shooting match with the home lodge. After a well-contested match, the visitors proved the winners by a fair margin of points. Bro. Hope thanked the Mornington Lodge for the evening’s entertainment, which every one had thoroughly enjoyed. Myrtle Lodge (Juvenile) met on Tuesday night, A.D. Bro. Hook presiding over a fair attendance of members. G.P. Bro. Watson and his officers were' present and received a warm welcome. Correspondence dealing with the shooting competition was attended to, and routine business disposed of. P.G.G. Bro. Reid gave a prize for an impromptu speech, for which all members present entered. The judge, G.P. Bro. Watson, awarded the prize to A.D. Bro. Hook, who gave a very fine speech. Bro. Reid was thanked for presenting the prize. The toast of “ The Visitors ” was replied to by G.P. Bro. A. Watson and P.G.G. Bro. B. Reid.
