TAXATION OF FARMERS.
PROTEST BY COUNTY COUNCIL. (Peb United Pebss Association.) ASHBURTON, August 2. The County Council resolved to-day to send a strong protest to the Prime Minister (Sir Joseph Ward), Mr D. Jones, M.P. for Mid-Canterbury, and Mr T. D. Burnett, M.P. for Temuka, against the Government’s policy of taxing the farming community to the extent of £BOO,OOO to help to meet a deficit of £900,000.
