SUBMARINE DISASTER
INQUIRY INTO THE . CAUSE. OFFICER COURT-MARTIALLED. (United Press Association.) (By Electric Telegraph -Copyrlsht.i LONDON, July 26. Whether or not all-important verbal messages were delivered to the captain of Ll2 a few minutes before the collision on July 9 will be decided by a court martial on Lieutenant Claud Keen, navigation officer of Ll2, who is charged with having caused the collision by failing to H47 by altering her course without warning the commander of H47.—Australian Press Association—United Service. KEEN FOUND'GUILTY. REPRIMAND AND DISMISSAL. LONDON, July 26. Commander Oram said he was positive that ho did not receive the followin' message from the bridge :i“‘H47 crossing our bow. Can we slow down ?” The signalman gave evidence that he heard the message passed below through the speaking tube. Seaman Rogers gave evidence^of taking the message. He passed it on to Commander Oram, who nodded assent. Lieutenant Wise, who was with Lieutenant Claud Keen on the bridge, deposed that Keen sent a message down the voice pipe.
The court foil ad Keen guilty, and dismissed him from his ship, and severely reprimanded him. —Australian Press Association.
